REGISTRATION INFORMATION:
Definition of Shareware. . .
Shareware distribution gives users a chance to try software before
buying it. If you try a shareware program and continue using it, you are
expected to register. Individual programs differ on details -- some
request registration while others require it, some specify a maximum
trial period. With registration, you get anything from the simple right
to continue using the software to an updated program with printed manual.
Copyright laws apply to both shareware and commercial software, and
the copyright holder retains all rights, with a few specific exceptions
as stated below. Shareware authors are accomplished programmers, just
like commercial authors, and the programs are of comparable quality. (In
both cases, there are good programs and bad ones!) The main difference is
in the method of distribution. The author specifically grants the right
to copy and distribute the software, either to all and sundry or to a
specific group. For example, some authors require written
permission before a commercial disk vendor may copy their shareware.
Shareware is a distribution method, not a type of software. You
should find software that suits your needs and pocketbook, whether it's
commercial or shareware. The shareware system makes fitting your needs
easier, because you can try before you buy. And because the overhead is
low, prices are low also. Shareware has the ultimate money-back guarantee
-- if you don't use the product, you don't pay for it.
_____
Ombudsman Statement. . .
This program program is produced by a member of the Association of
Shareware Professionals (ASP). ASP wants to make sure that the shareware
principle works for you. If you are unable to resolve a shareware-related
problem with an ASP member by contacting the member directly, ASP may be
able to help. The ASP Ombudsman can help you resolve a dispute or problem
with an ASP member, but does not provide technical support for members'
products. Please write to the ASP Ombudsman at 545 Grover Road, Muskegon,
MI 49442 or send a CompuServe message via CompuServe Mail to ASP
Ombudsman 70007,3536.

CMFiler Disclaimer - Agreement. . .
Users of CMFiler must accept this disclaimer of warranty: CMFiler is
supplied as-is. The author disclaims all warranties, expressed or
implied, including, without limitation, the warranties of merchantability
and of fitness for any purpose. The author assumes no liability for
damages, direct or consequential, which may result from the use of
CMFiler.
_____
Individual Registration. . .
CMFiler is a copyrighted shareware program by Charles F. Martin,
President, NoVaSoft and author member of the Association of shareware
Professionals. The evaluation version of CMFiler is offered at no charge
to any potential user for evaluation. Feel free to share it with your
friends, but please do not give it away altered or as part of another
system. The essence of "user-supported" software is to provide personal
computer users with quality software without high prices, and yet to
provide incentive for programmers to continue to develop new products.
If you find this program useful and find that you are using CMFiler
after a 60-day trial period, you must make a registration payment of $30.
Checks may be made payable to Charles F. Martin or NoVaSoft. You will be
sent by return mail a registered copy of the latest version of CMFiler
with hard copy of the user's manual. You are thereby licensed to have as
many copies of CMFiler as you wish (for example, one on each computer you
use at home and work, plus one for your briefcase for troubleshooting
someone else's system), with the understanding that these are for YOUR
personal use and, if your wish, demonstration to others. Please
recognize that this is a CONSIDERABLY relaxed condition on copying and
usage than some authors specify. It is specified this way for YOUR
convenience.

_____
Registration Bonuses! ! !
In addition to a bound user's manual and current version of CMFiler,
registration entitles you to user technical support by mail or CompuServe
E-mail for at least one year.
Registration ALSO brings you a FREE future major update of CMFiler
on-disk. If you are a CompuServe subscriber and so wish, you may be
added to an E-mail list and receive periodic upgrades of CMFiler by
CompuServe E-mail. These files will be transmitted as binary files
compressed using the PKZIP utility. Please indicate if this is your
desire in the area provided on the registration form.
Registration ALSO entitles you to a $10 cash commission EACH time a
new registrant uses the accompanying registration form and cites you as
the source of her/his evaluation copy of CMFiler. Thus, not only do you
get a truly fine utility packed with features, but you may effectively
reduce your registration fee, or even net some cash, just by showing and
offering the evaluation edition of CMFiler to others.
Each new registrant ALSO receives a Shareware Bonus Disk -- a
collection of some of the best shareware utilities and applications
available. They are included with the permission of their respective
authors. On the registration form please indicate the maximum capacity
floppy drive you have on your machine, as this determines which bonus
disk (hence, how many programs) you get. Programs in the NoVaSoft bonus
library include:
o Wolfgang Stiller's Integrity Master antivirus/data integrity program
o Dave Hamel's BOXER editor
o Michael Hotz' PRINDIR printer redirection TSR
o Chris Davies Public Address phone book/contact manager
o Tom Vavoso's File Finder/Grouper utility
o Monte Benham's FASTFILE data base program
o Haruyasu Yoshizaki's compression utility LHA
The 1.44M bonus disk contains all of these fine programs. The 1.2M, 720k
and 360k bonus disks contain successively fewer. You will receive the
disk corresponding to your highest capacity drive, as you indicate on the
registration form. Each of these excellent shareware selections is, like
CMFiler, supported by the integrity of users just like you, so if you
find your are using them beyond the author's evaluation period, please
register them. Each is eminently affordable. Wolfgang Stiller has
authorized me to issue coupons for $8 off the normal Integrity Master
registration price, making it an absolute steal for you.
And, if all the above weren't enough, you ALSO receive a certificate
that entitles you to purchase one CD-ROM of the best shareware in the
world from JCS Marketing, Inc., for only $9.95 -- i. e., at half-price.
JCS Marketing, Inc., has emerged as one of the real leaders in the CD-ROM
distribution industry, and their library is unsurpassed. You won't find
a better CD-ROM value anywhere.

_____
Site Licenses. . .
As noted above, the basic "unit" of registration is the individual
user (as opposed, for example, to the individual machine), and the person
licensed to use CMFiler by virtue of this registration may have as many
copies on as many machines as he/she wishes, under the condition that
he/she reasonably assures that those copies are not regularly used by
others in a fashion that circumvents their obligation to also register.
This concept works fine for the individual user. For a "corporate" user,
in which a company or school wishes to provide CMFiler as a workplace
resource for employees or students, the company's license may be extended
to a license for multiple users in any combination of two ways:
1. The single-user license conferred to the company or one of its
officials with the original $30 registration may be extended at any time
to any number of additional "unsupported" users at the rate of $7.50 per
additional user ($5 per additional student user for schools), with no
increment in the original benefits (ie., no additional hard copies of
manual will be sent, only one copy of the future upgrade will be sent and
technical support will be provided only to the original registrant).
I recognize that the number of users afforded access to CMFiler in a
large company or network will vary as employees come and go and users are
added and subtracted, and so I ask only for a good-faith estimate, BUT
based on the total number of users afforded access, NOT on some lower
estimate of the number of users who might be using CMFiler
simultaneously. Once the company or school extends its original
registration to additional unsupported users in this fashion, it may at
its own expense print this number of additional manuals and disks to
distribute to the addition users. I have priced this license extension
CMFiler - Registration 4
so reasonably that this additional cost per additional user is affordable
for the smallest to the largest company, and represents a small fraction
of the workplace productivity gain benefiting each additional user.
2. The original license may also be extended to additional
"supported" users at the rate of $15 per user, and I will send to the
original registrant one complete registration package (disk plus manual
and any current material fringe benefits) per additional user.
In either case of company license extension, the users added are
licensed to use CMFiler ONLY in the company's workplace for which the
license extension was purchased. Any users who wish copies for their
personal use MUST individually register CMFiler with NoVaSoft.
_____
Further Distribution of CMFiler. . .
Distributors and BBS sysops recognized by the Association of
Shareware Professionals (ASP) as adhering to its guidelines for shareware
distributors may begin offering CMFiler in their catalogs/BBS services
immediately, and will automatically receive updates by mail by virtue of
their ASP membership. Other distributors whose only remuneration is a
nominal fee for the disk itself, and whose literature makes it clear to
their buyers that the program material must be separately registered with
the author, may also offer CMFiler immediately, but should inform me so
that I can provide them periodic updates. Distributors who wish to sell
CMFiler packaged as or in a retail product must contact me, and are NOT
authorized to distribute CMFiler without prior approval.
